Language Proficiency Tests Accepted in the Ireland

Irish universities and colleges widely accept IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English (PTE), and the Duolingo English Test (DET) as proof of English language proficiency by international students. Different institutions and courses indicate the minimum scores for the language tests, so check their requirements.

Obtaining a Irish Student Visa

If you are studying for 90 days or more, you are to apply for a Long-Term Study Visa (D Visa). However, if your course is short and under 90 days (language courses included), you are to apply for a Short-Term Study Visa (C Visa). Supporting documents required include a Summary Application Form generated from AVATS, a valid passport, biometrics, an acceptance letter from an Irish institution, proof of tuition fee payment, proof of financial coverage and proof of English language proficiency.
